I am willing to bet my Frizz Therapy Flat Iron that, for as long as salons have been around, there have been women bringing in torn out magazine pictures containing the latest hair trend on the hottest celebrity. And really, ladies, this is not a bet I take lightly, as that flat iron has saved me from many an indecent frizz-capade. I am also willing to bet that if you ask any hairstylist if there have been any lasting qualities that women have continuously coveted throughout the numerous peaks and slopes of styles, you would get the same answer from all: shine, smoothness, and volume. And no matter how talented your stylist may be, tomorrow’s hair day is dependent on your very own styling techniques. So let’s talk, ladies.
Crank up the VOLUME- Great volume starts at the roots, and blow-drying is an often-missed opportunity to lift and lock. Before drying, treat roots with a light spritz of root booster, focusing around the crown of your head. This will add texture and help hold your style. For extra lift, toss your head upside down and dry the roots with a high heat. Then, use the cool shot function on your dryer to set the style. If you flip your head over while your roots are still warm they will lose all that amazing volume you just pumped into them! After you have thoroughly dried and set your roots, go ahead and toss your head back so you can see the mirror and put your round brush on deck. Clip the top portion of your hair up with a few banana clips and start drying section by section. When you reach the crown of your head, hold a chunk of your hair straight up with one hand. Take your blow dryer and gust hot air at the root of the section from underneath. Don’t forget to set the section with a cool shot. This will also help create that bouncy lift! When you’re finished drying, tease sections around the crown of your head. Set your style with your favorite hairspray and you’ve got volume even the stars would envy!
Shine, Baby, Shine – Bring out your inner glam by making your locks gleam. When your hair is damp from a good scrub down, massage in a dollop of leave-in conditioner. If your hair is especially damaged, it’s worth it to invest in a great deep-conditioning agent for weekly use. When washing your hair, work up some courage and blast it with a shot of cold water. A few seconds of chill is worth the sealing of conditioner into your hair, making it easier to style when the time comes. Although heat from any old blow dryer and straightener will help smooth your hair follicles, the award-winning Remington Frizz Therapy Flat Iron will provide extra protection against humidity and frizz. Straighten by section for more efficient styling. Once your hair is dry, follow up with a few drops of frizz-taming serum.
Smooth Operator – Make your hair silky smooth in this last step to dream hair. Towel dry your hair, followed up by a light application of a styling product. Now, bring in the blow dryer for a little straight therapy. Steadily comb the hair around the crown of your hair straight down, drying from the top as you go. Divide your hair into 5 or 6 sections, clipping all but one with a banana clip. Using a round brush, blow dry the section you have left out of a clip straight down. Repeat throughout the rest of your clipped sections, making sure to keep the dryer a few inches from your hair at all times. Once your hair is completely dry, grab your straightener and go at your hair, small section by small section. Start at the roots and slowly make your way down, ensuring the smoothest hair. End by using a few drops of silicone serum throughout your hair to fight frizz and split ends.
