After a couple years of glitzy, sparkly eye shadows, the new trend in eye makeup is all about toning it down a bit to let our softer, and more feminine sides, shine through. Light brown smoky eyes, baby girl pinks, tangerines, neutral shades, and flirty lavenders reign supreme.

• Soft and Smoky.  I’m truly pleased that we haven’t said goodbye to the smoky eye. This look works on any eye shape and brings out all the flecks of color in hazel, brown, or blue eyes. Tone it down just a bit this year. To do this, just use a softer color and a slightly larger brush.

• Girly Pink.  Celebrities young and old are showing up on the Red Carpet and in magazines wearing the softest pink hues. An uplifting pink will keep your eyes from looking tired or washed out. Choose a great base in a light tone to pull out the pink to its fullest.

• Tangerines.  Orange is the “it” color of the season. Open any fashion magazine and find the color in clothing, in makeup, and even on our shoes! The runways came to life this year with a color we didn’t realize we were missing!  Orange is the perfect color to wear for a new daytime look.
   
• Nude and Neutral.  Nothing looks fresher than a clean face. You’ll appear to be wearing very little makeup and appear more youthful. The keys to looking fabulous with neutral shades are great lip glosses and foundations and powders that perfectly match skin tones.  Go easy on the eyeliner to perfect the barely there look.
